For 245 industrial chemicals, BG Chemie (after 2010 its legal successor is BG RCI) has published TOXICOLOGICAL EVALUATIONS. They give an overview on the acute and chronic effects of the substances and evaluate the data on the genotoxicity, carcinogenicity, reproductive toxicity, immunological and neurotoxic effects and the experiences in humans. The TOXICOLOGICAL EVALUATIONS are available in different versions which can either be downloaded or obtained free of charge. In addition, BG Chemie has performed 432 experimental studies with 129 phase-in substances. The studies are described in the TOXICOLOGICAL EVALUATIONS and can be obtained from BG RCI for registration under REACH.

2-Methoxy-2,3-dihydropyran

CAS number 4454-05-1, BG number 266

A TOXICOLOGICAL EVALUATION is available in a separate full-length printed German version (04/1994), in a short German version (02/1998) and in a full-length English version in Volume 9 of the book series “Toxicological Evaluations“, which you can download or order free of charge.

A V79 mammalian cell gene mutation test (HPRT) was performed on behalf of BG Chemie, within its “Programme for the Prevention of Health Hazards Caused by Industrial Substances”. Whereas in the presence of S-9 mix 2-methoxy-2,3-dihydropyran did not show a relevant increase in the mutation frequency, the substance increased the mutation frequency at cytotoxic concentrations in the absence of S-9 mix. This test was considered in the updated short German version.

This study can be obtained from BG RCI for registration under REACH.

The full-length TOXICOLOGICAL EVALUATION has not been updated, as the chemical is under investigation by the International Council of Chemical Associations (ICCA).
