Method 01 – GC – limited suitability: category E2
Sampling with a pump and adsorption on Chromosorb 106, gas chromatography after desorption.
This measuring method permits the determination of 2-butanone oxime concentrations in working areas averaged over the sampling time after personal or stationary sampling.
Principle
A pump is used to draw a measured volume of air through a Chromosorb 106 tube. The adsorbed 2-butanone oxime is desorbed with methanol and determined by gas chromatography.
Limit of quantification (LOQ)
Absolute: 0.8 ng 2-butanone oxime.
Relative: 0.2 mg/m3 ≙ 0.05 mL/m3 (ppm) 2-butanone oxime for a 40 litre air sample, 10 mL desorption solution and 1 µL an injection volume.
Issue
April 2001
The measuring method is of limited suitability (E2).
The complete measuring method is available in the Wiley Online Library: Method for the determination of 2-butanone oxime (Air Monitoring Methods, Volume 9, 2005).
